OUR MISSION STATEMENT

We believe that every person derives extraordinary enhancement of their lifestyle through satisfying leisure involvements.  SPARC, Inc., Special Program and Resource Connection, is dedicated to the provision of high quality Therapeutic Recreation for individuals with disabilities.  We promote the standards of practice set forth by the National Therapeutic Recreation Society. SPARC aims to deliver dynamic programs and supportive services, bringing our participants opportunities for skill development, independence, socialization, and self-fulfillment in a fun and joyful atmosphere. We provide respite time for caretakers managing the multiple demands of caring for their disabled family member.  Additionally, SPARC provides diagnostic and assessment services, consultation, training, education and support to professional caregivers, students and families utilizing Therapeutic Recreation programs and resources to meet the particular needs of individuals and groups.

OUR GOALS

Every person needs a time to relax, be with friends, develop new abilities, and learn about oneself.  SPARC provides active, challenging, and creative recreation for people with special needs, as well as respite for their families.  Our specialists guide participants through enjoyable, goal-oriented activities as stepping stones towards developing behavioral, functional and life skill goals.  SPARC programs foster socialization, skill development, accomplishments and self-determination in a fun and joyful atmosphere. We provide support and instruction for the growth and success of each participant.  Activities are adapted to suit each person’s individual needs, including sensory stimulation, adaptive materials, educational goals, gross/fine motor skills, communication, leisure skills and community integration.  SPARC strives to be part of the rhythm of life for each person who embraces favorite activities, friends and special times with us.

 

OUR PROGRAM SPECIALISTS ARE JUST RIGHT FOR YOU

SPARC’s team of experienced, creative professionals are trained in specializations including therapeutic recreation, music therapy, art therapy, psychology, nursing, special education and social work. We understand participants' personal needs, the spectrum of functional abilities, learning and developmental disabilities, communication disorders, medical frailty, seizures, allergies, special diets, incontinence, adaptive equipment, and sign language. SPARC staff is knowledgeable about individuals' social/emotional, physical, and medical concerns. Our specialists inspire participants to "reach for the stars" in a spirit of encouragement, friendship and fun.
