Sing, create art projects or play a game during this evening of adaptive recreation and socialization. Instructors provide individualized assistance leading to steps of independence. DANCE & DRAMA EXPRESSIONS (for young adults)
Explore great ways to express yourself through dance, drama and creative movement games. We will learn varied techniques and exercises, optional use of script at times, create our own dances and dramatic vignettes. This experiential process is not production based but focused on a joyful and relaxed good time.

MUSIC LOVERS SOCIETY
Sing-along with our high energy, interactive, joyful music group, play percussion instruments, and if you like, perform solos or share your enthusiasm through dance. Music selections are based on your choices and favorites. We celebrate holidays, try karaoke, and have an uplifting social experience of musical expression.

Let your creativity flow! Explore unusual art materials and craft techniques. Projects are based on your interests and can include: decoupage, faux finishing, flower arranging, rubber stamping, holiday crafts, woodwork, marbling, printing and more. You will be amazed at what you can do and have a wonderful project to take home each week.

DINNER FRIENDS (for young adults)
Have a night out on the town enjoying dinner with friends. What’s your favorite – Chinese, Italian, diners, deli, sushi? Sample a new restaurant and different types of food each week. Drop off and pick up at dining sites in lower/mid Westchester towns based on group interests.

SOCIAL CIRCLE-BOARD GAME NIGHT
Finally, a social club for the over 30’s crowd! Come learn simple living room-type games in a relaxed atmosphere, socialize and be with friends. Choose from a variety of games available each evening or learn the rules to a new game each week. Try favorites such as checkers, Parcheesi, Jenga, cards, Trouble, Boggle or novel new games you’ve probably never seen before. We will even make our own board game!

COOKING FUN

SPARC ON YOUTUBE (for young adults)
Love the internet, tv, being part of a team project? Train with our professional tv producers in the 5 shot system of filming, making videos and acting (optional.) We film neighborhood events, our own biographies, create fictional scripts, do movie reviews and conduct interviews. Develop skills in camera work, lighting, props, editing, directing, critiquing and being on camera along with a social group of friends. PET CONNECTION
Share your love while learning to care for large and small breeds of dogs. Trainers from HEART (Human-Animal Educational And Recreational Therapy) bring DELTA certified therapy pets to develop friendships, help overcome fears and have a great time. Group activities include walking dogs, playing Frisbee or fetch, as well as 1:1 time for each participant and dog.

SPARC joins the global movement known as “Conversation Café,” where people develop relationships through conversation in a regular, social group. This is a place to find meaning, to be thoughtful, to be accepted and share your curiosity about life! Coffee (decaf!) and snacks will be served.

BE A PARTY PLANNER

Looking for a great time on Friday nights? The Social Club is where it’s at for young adults in their 20’s. A supportive environment to learn leisure skills, practice independence and develop leadership. Monthly trips may include: movie and dinner nights, bowling, theatre, golf, billiards, swimming, hiking, summer cruise, baseball game, sports club and more of your choice!

Each week offers different sport skills and games with our adaptive athletics instructor: basketball, floor hockey, soccer drills, tennis skills, volleyball, kickball, “SPUD” and more. We then walk or are transported to popular Yorktown diners, restaurants and grills. Keep active and have a typical weekend experience. Signed Solaris Sports Club waiver required prior to participation.

FAMILY BBQ
An evening of great food, active games, crafts, photos and socializing. Musical entertainment the whole family will enjoy! Participants, families, friends and SPARC service providers join together to celebrate their bonds and good times from the past year, as well as kicking off the summer season! Great reunion for parents and a way for everyone to make new friends. Event held rain or shine, rescheduled indoors if necessary.
