Pre-Schools
Programs designed for your specific site address issues affecting pre-schoolers’ development, seeking every teachable moment. Play is the most natural experience for children to explore and learn about their world. SPARC professionals give children opportunities for fun as they develop basic functional and social skills, nurturing each child’s creative strengths and personal growth.
Goals include: sensory integration, communication & language skills, playing with others, body awareness, taking turns, following directions.
- Create-A-Motion: creative dance/movement/drama,
- Magic of Music: musical activity through instruments, rhythm and songs,
- Art/Crafts: creative materials & projects such as paint, clay, collage, & sculpture
- Active/Quiet Games: group and partner activities and/or table top games.
Elementary School Social Skills Programs
KIDS EXPRESS: Our inclusionary, after-school recreation program for grades K-5 emphasizes social skills while children enjoy creative, fun, small group activities. Our goal oriented, individualized plans facilitate development through team building games, unique crafts and role play. Kids Express is also available for special education groups. 12 weeks fall & spring. Register here.
Goals: making & being a good friend, dealing with social challenges, listening, sharing, following rules, understanding & expressing feelings, self-awareness, self-esteem
MAGIC OF MUSIC: Our music therapist leads an individualized, goal oriented, lively interactive program, involving children in singing, movement and musical games. Small classes allow children to enthusiastically explore rhythm and rhyme, percussion instruments, and dramatic play. Songs and music are from popular, classical and world cultures. Register here.
Goals: receptive & expressive language, social skills, improve attention, self-expression.
SUMMER MAGIC: An extended daytime summer school experience for special education student through structured summer recreation fun. Program can run in collaboration with school faculty for carryover of student IEP goals upon request.
Middle & High School Teens
After-School Spirit
A relaxed and fun time for teens to socialize, while expanding safe coverage hours for busy parents. This leisure education opportunity is a lifeline for teens who have not had an appropriate way to participate in the after-school community. Students choose activities to make this group their own and may include: games, art, music, movement, discussions and other typical teen interests.
Eastchester and Blue Mountain students may register here.
Goals: leadership roles, independence & confidence, self-esteem, social connections, dealing with social challenges, new interests & leisure skills
Daytime Program Opportunities for Adults
10 week sessions run continuously throughout the year with rolling admission.
Place: South, central, north Westchester locations. Call for closest site to you.
Times: 10 – 11 am, 11 am – 12 pm, 12 – 1 pm
Cost: $ 130 – 10 week sessions. Group rates available.
Create-a-Motion – Enjoy life through creative movement & music. Develop fitness, self-esteem & socialization.
Exploring Art – Express yourself through interesting materials & new ideas. Bring home projects every week.
Music – Sing-along, dance & play percussion instruments in a high energy, interactive, joyful program.
Active and Fit – A great workout sitting or standing while having such a good time it won’t feel like work at all.
Cooking – A tasty class for people who love to cook and learn new food preparation skills and recipes.

Our programs tailored to adult residents and participants in your home/center/school at your schedule are provided by SPARC to most group home agencies in Westchester, making this one of our most popular and successful services. We are flexible and sensitive to your concerns and our individualized contract with you will provide:
- Our Recreation, Art or Music Therapists in your home, center or school
- Program services provided weekly or at your preferred monthly schedule
- Assurance of dependable activities without the complications of transportation or staffing
- Choice of any activity in this brochure and the opportunity to call and discuss other ideas
Additional Services

Private Instruction or 1:1 Therapy – SPARC professionals offer private or semi-private therapy or instruction for children or adults adjusting to social, cognitive, emotional or physical challenges. We enable participants to make achievements and progress in their special activity interests. Weekly visits or other schedules are available to fit your personal lifestyle. Sessions can be in your home or our setting. Activity choices: computers/technology, pet therapy, art (painting, drawing, sculpture, jewelry, ceramics, crafts), music (voice, instrument), photography, drama, yoga, sports, fitness, dance, creative writing, cooking, gardening, or other activities of your choice.
Consultation and Training – Our Art, music and recreation therapists provide consultation for your staff to provide appropriate, adapted and meaningful activities for your participants. Each training is individualized to your staff, with attention to setting goals, selecting materials, safety concerns, creative use of available resources, and can be inclusive of set # of weeks of actual activity plans upon request.
