Club Sparc

Kids crave weekend play-dates but it’s not always easy for parents to make this happen. Club SPARC facilitates the formation of rewarding friendships by matching participants based on compatible interests and social skills. Kids learn about making and being a good friend through creative games and projects which encourage self-expression, conversation skills, problem solving and decision making skills, all while developing new interests and self-esteem.

* Horseback Riding

Adapted horseback riding gives participants new skills, a sense of accomplishment and a love for animals. Professional instruction in English style riding techniques helps riders gain independence while improving balance, posture, self-esteem, and concentration. The beautiful settings offer participants indoor and outdoor riding facilities, opportunities to groom and feed horses and have lots of fun. Individualized riding evaluation and goals are determined for each rider.

* Kidz Time

Your child can find play a time for smiles, friends and fun! For some families, KIDZ TIME is the first successful community recreation activity for their child on the autism spectrum. SPARC Specialists, trained in interventions for ASD’s, help children enjoy specially designed creative music, art and games. Each child is guided at their level of readiness to develop targeted skills in communication and self-expression, social awareness and interaction, expressive and receptive language skills. In a positive, flexible environment, our goals include: reducing frustration, increasing attention and focus, listening skills, taking turns, dealing with winning and losing, alternatives to aggressive responses, making accomplishments and self-esteem. For children who benefit from parent or sibling participation, they are encouraged to join the fun.

Sibs Time

For typical siblings of children with autism spectrum disorders, an opportunity to share a positive play experience with guidance of SPARC Specialists. Children will join music, games and art activities together and then siblings will meet separately with their own Specialist who will provide a special sibling activity each week. The sibling activities encourage friendship among similar peers living with siblings with ASD, creative self-expression and conversation, support and information that is uniquely helpful towards their family role.
